Veterans and Rising Stars Shine in 2026 All-WNBA Team Selections

The WNBA has unveiled its All-WNBA First and Second Teams for the 2026 season, spotlighting a compelling blend of seasoned veterans and emerging young talent. This year’s selections underscore both the league’s established stars and an exciting new generation making significant impacts.
Leading the First Team are A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Breanna Stewart from the New York Liberty, two of the league’s most decorated players. Wilson, who was named the 2026 WNBA Most Valuable Player, earned her sixth All-WNBA First Team selection. This marks her fifth MVP award, a WNBA record, and her third consecutive MVP title. In the 2026 season, Wilson averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game, demonstrating her dominance on both ends of the floor. Stewart, a two-time MVP herself, secured her seventh First Team nod, continuing her consistent elite performance.
Joining these veterans on the First Team are Indiana Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, both named to the First Team for the second time in their careers. Clark led the league in assists this season, while Mitchell set a new WNBA single-season points record, finishing as the league’s top scorer. Their offensive prowess helped anchor Indiana’s competitive campaign.
A standout on the First Team is Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles, who made history as the first rookie since Clark in 2024 to earn First Team honours. Miles impressed in her debut season, averaging 19.8 points, 6.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. She also set a new WNBA rookie scoring record with 790 points, surpassing Clark’s previous mark of 769. Her performance earned her the Rookie of the Year award and an All-Star selection, highlighting her immediate impact on the league.
The Second Team features five players who received All-WNBA honours for the first time: Angel Reese and Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream, Shakira Austin from the Washington Mystics, Paige Bueckers of the Dallas Wings, and Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces. Reese and Howard made franchise history as the first Dream teammates to be named All-WNBA in the same season. Both also earned spots on the All-Defensive First Team, underscoring their two-way excellence. Reese, in particular, had a record-breaking season, becoming the first player in WNBA history to record 500 rebounds in a single season and setting new league records for offensive rebounds and double-doubles.
These selections come amid the ongoing WNBA Finals, where the Atlanta Dream currently lead the Golden State Valkyries 2-1 in the series. Notably, the Valkyries have no players named to the All-WNBA teams this year, while the Dream boast two Second Team honorees. Reese and Howard’s contributions have been pivotal in Atlanta’s push for its first WNBA championship.
The 2026 All-WNBA teams reflect the league’s dynamic evolution, balancing the sustained excellence of veterans like Wilson and Stewart with the rapid rise of young stars such as Miles, Reese, and Howard. As the season concludes and the Finals continue, these players exemplify the high level of competition and talent that defines the WNBA’s growth and excitement.
