Google’s Gemini AI Can Now Call Businesses for You on Pixel 11 Phones

Google is trying out a new feature that lets its Gemini AI assistant make phone calls to businesses on your behalf. Right now, this is a test only available to Pixel 11 owners in the U.S. who subscribe to Gemini and use a beta version of Google’s Phone app.
With this feature, called “Call for Me,” Gemini can dial a business using your own phone number and speak using an AI-generated voice. It can handle tasks like checking if a product is in stock, booking a restaurant table, changing an appointment date, or putting an item on hold.
You won’t be left in the dark during the call. You can watch a live transcript of the conversation on your phone and take over the call whenever you want. The AI also has to identify itself at the start of every call and inform the person on the other end that the call is recorded.
Google says the calls use your phone’s cellular network, so normal minutes and carrier fees apply. There are rules in place to prevent misuse: it can only be used for personal calls, not business or government purposes, and it can’t be used for emergency calls or sending spam or political messages.
This feature builds on Google’s earlier AI calling tools that helped with waiting on hold or navigating phone menus, but now Gemini can conduct full conversations to complete tasks. Google is starting small because real phone conversations can be complicated, and it wants to make sure the AI works well before offering it widely.
While the feature is still in early stages, it shows how AI might soon handle routine calls for you, saving time and hassle. For now, though, only a limited group of Pixel 11 users in the U.S. can try it out.
