XREAL Aura Wired XR Glasses Launch with Android XR Platform

XREAL has introduced its new wired XR glasses called Aura, which are powered by Google’s Android XR platform. The launch took place on October 28, 2026, at Google’s Android Developer Summit. These glasses are designed to bring spatial computing into a lightweight, see-through form that connects to a separate compute puck housing the processing power and battery.

The Aura glasses weigh under 95 grams, making them fairly light to wear for extended periods. They feature Sony Micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels per eye and support refresh rates up to 120Hz. The lenses are transparent, allowing users to see digital content while still being aware of their surroundings without the need for camera passthrough. Users can adjust lens transparency with five levels of electrochromic dimming, and the glasses come with options to fit different nose sizes and prescription lenses.

The computing puck uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform and XREAL’s own spatial coprocessor for tracking and AI processing. This split-compute design helps keep the glasses light and comfortable by offloading heavy processing to the puck, which the user carries separately. The puck also includes a touchpad for control, and users can connect Bluetooth keyboards, mice, or game controllers for a more PC-like experience.

One of the key features is access to Android XR, which offers hundreds of made-for-XR apps as well as millions of regular Android mobile and tablet apps from the Google Play Store. Users can arrange apps across up to five virtual screens and mirror their PC or gaming console screen via USB-C. This makes the Aura useful for work, entertainment, and gaming on the go.

Google’s AI assistant Gemini is integrated into the system to provide contextual help. It can understand what you’re looking at and assist with tasks like organising windows or answering questions about the content in view. This makes interactions feel more natural and intuitive.

The glasses come in two configurations: a base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, priced regularly at $1,279, and a higher-end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, priced at $1,499. For the launch period until the end of December 2026, XREAL is offering promotional prices of $1,099 and $1,299 respectively. Orders are open now in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, with shipping expected to start in mid-November.

At launch, the Aura supports over 150 XR-specific apps designed to showcase the technology’s potential. These include immersive experiences such as the NBA App for Android XR, Fallout: Factions game, Project Hail Mary adventure, and Simply Piano XR, among others. The glasses also support spatial audio tuned by Bose, providing an immersive sound experience while keeping users aware of their environment.

This new device positions XREAL as a notable player in the growing XR market, offering a mix of portability, powerful hardware, and access to a broad app ecosystem. The Aura’s design focuses on blending digital content with the real world, rather than fully immersing users in virtual reality, which could make it more practical for everyday use.
