Kristaps Porzingis to Miss Start of Warriors Training Camp Due to Health Issue

Kristaps Porzingis, the centre for the Golden State Warriors, will not be joining the team for the start of their training camp because of a health issue. The Warriors announced that Porzingis will miss the team’s trip to Hawaii for the camp and his absence is indefinite.
General manager Mike Dunleavy said he was informed of Porzingis’s status on Sunday. Porzingis had been working out at the Chase Center during the week before without any obvious problems. However, no details about the health issue have been shared publicly.
Dunleavy expressed disappointment that Porzingis will miss the early part of camp but avoided calling it a long-term concern. He also did not rule out the possibility that Porzingis could return in time for the regular season opener on October 21, though no clear timeline has been given.
Head coach Steve Kerr described the news as surprising but said the team expects Porzingis to join them at some point. Kerr also mentioned that questions remain and there isn’t much more to report now.
Porzingis, 31, joined the Warriors in February 2026 after being traded from Atlanta. He played only 32 games last season due to previous health problems and re-signed with Golden State in July on a two-year contract worth about $40 million. He has a known medical condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), but the team has not confirmed if the current health issue is related.
This development adds to concerns about the Warriors’ roster health as they prepare for the new season. The team is already facing significant injuries to other players, which could affect their chances in the coming months.
