Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves Gear Up for Super League Semi-Final Clash

The 2026 Super League semi-finals are set to kick off this Friday, with Leeds Rhinos hosting Warrington Wolves at AMT Headingley Stadium. The match starts at 8 pm, and the winner will secure a place in the Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 3.

Leeds finished second in the regular season, earning a home semi-final and a two-week break before this game. Warrington, who ended third, come into the match on the back of an impressive 35-12 win over reigning champions Hull KR in the eliminator round just six days ago.

That win was marked by a standout performance from Warrington’s Matty Ashton, who scored a hat-trick of tries. Hull KR’s Peta Hiku was sent off early in the second half, which shifted momentum firmly in Warrington’s favour.

Leeds, however, face a few challenges. Their recent form has been patchy, with losses to Wigan and Hull FC at home, and they will be without key players including captain Ash Handley, Lachlan Miller, and Jack Bird due to injuries. Youngsters Ned and Fergus McCormack are stepping in, and George Brown returns to the squad after recovering from a knee injury.

Warrington will field the same squad that beat Hull KR, carrying strong momentum into this crucial match. The coaches of both teams have expressed confidence. Leeds’ Brad Arthur says his team just needs to be their best, while Warrington’s Sam Burgess emphasises discipline and clinical execution.

Historically, Leeds and Warrington have a fierce rivalry, with Leeds holding the edge in Super League wins. This season, Leeds won both regular-season encounters, but the injuries and Warrington’s recent form make this semi-final an open contest.

The other semi-final will see Wigan Warriors face Wakefield Trinity on Saturday. Rugby league fans can look forward to two exciting matches that will decide who plays for the 2026 Super League title.
