Seven Fantasy Football Start-Sit Decisions to Help You with Week 3

Week 3 of the NFL season is here, and many fantasy football managers face tough choices about who to start or sit. An ESPN article by Liz Loza breaks down seven key decisions, using facts like player roles, recent performance, injuries, and matchups to guide you.

One clear start is Chuba Hubbard from the Carolina Panthers. With Jonathon Brooks now on injured reserve, Hubbard is expected to take on a bigger role. He’s had solid production so far, with 27 touches, 151 scrimmage yards, and three touchdowns in two games. Experts agree that Hubbard should be a strong RB2 option this week, regardless of the matchup.

Quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Drake Maye also get attention. Prescott bounced back in Week 2 with four passing touchdowns and 26 rushing yards, making him a solid start. Maye struggled in his first two games but is still considered a low-end QB1 for Week 3, showing some potential despite turnovers.

Wide receiver Parker Washington stands out as a must-start. He’s been consistent with at least 16 fantasy points in each of his first two games and ranks high in targets. NFL’s official fantasy analysis also backs starting him, noting many managers have yet to fully utilise him.

Other players to consider starting include tight end T.J. Hockenson, who saw a 20% target share in Week 2, and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, who has a solid target share and route involvement similar to a top teammate. But some players are safer to sit this week—like Kyle Pitts, who is still finding his role, and Rome Odunze, who faces quarterback uncertainties.

Keep in mind, these recommendations were made before Week 3 games and could change with late injury updates or other news. Still, focusing on player roles and recent usage helps take the guesswork out of your lineup decisions.
