Meta Launches Enterprise AI Platform, Appoints Former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai to Lead

Meta Platforms has launched the Meta Enterprise Platform, a new initiative aimed at delivering its advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools to businesses and developers. The platform builds on Meta’s recently introduced Muse personal AI assistant and expands AI capabilities beyond consumer applications into the enterprise sector.
To spearhead this effort, Meta has appointed Chirantan “CJ” Desai as chief enterprise platform officer. Desai, who was president and CEO of MongoDB since November 2025, will report directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in this newly created role. His responsibilities include transforming Meta’s AI technology stack into practical products and services that companies can deploy to innovate and grow.
The Meta Enterprise Platform will initially offer a suite of AI-powered tools, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code. Muse, launched earlier in September, is a personal AI assistant capable of handling tasks such as booking travel, sending emails, and shopping on behalf of users. It operates within a secure virtual machine architecture, ensuring privacy and safety.
Desai brings considerable experience from his leadership roles at MongoDB, Cloudflare, and ServiceNow, where he focused on product innovation, engineering, and scaling enterprise software businesses. His move to Meta prompted a significant reaction in the market; MongoDB’s shares dropped by more than 17% following the announcement. MongoDB has appointed its former CEO, Dev Ittycheria, as interim chief executive while conducting a search for a permanent replacement.
Meta’s entry into enterprise AI reflects the company’s ambition to leverage its AI advancements to help organisations of all sizes improve operations and customer engagement. However, Meta has not disclosed details regarding pricing, customer contracts, or the timeline for the commercial availability of the Meta Enterprise Platform.
The launch marks a strategic expansion for Meta, leveraging its large-scale AI infrastructure and experience working with millions of advertisers and businesses worldwide. As AI continues to reshape industries, Meta aims to position itself as a key provider of AI solutions tailored for enterprise needs.
