Video games and The White HouseThe arcade section is just one example of how the Trump administration has increasingly incorporated video game culture into its political messaging on social media. In October 2025, the official White House X account drew criticism for posting an AI-generated picture of President Trump, external in a suit from the video game Halo. The Pokémon Company International also criticised the White House's use of its imagery in March, when it included a tiny version of the popular character Pikachu in a meme posted online with the phrase "Make America Great Again".

5 million households – 46% – lived in parts of the country where economic growth, often seen through increased business investment and job opportunities, was not leading to better living standards.

It said households in the north east of England had 6. Meanwhile, households in the South East were found to have spending power 9% above the national average, worth an additional £2,154 a year, followed by London. Household spending power is seen as a good measure of whether economic growth is improving living standards. Economic growth usually means people spend more, extra jobs are created, more tax is paid to the government and workers get paid better. Researchers said while there was a clear North-South divide in the spending power of households, there were also examples of spending power differences within areas deemed better off, such as London and the south east.
Though spending power in the south of England is impacted by higher housing costs compared to the north, the hit to households on average is softened by higher incomes and the divide remains, researchers said. Scotland and the south west of England were exceptions to the trend, the report added, because lower housing costs and smaller households meant spending power was slightly above the national average. On 4 September the official Tetris account on X posted, external the firm was "not involved in the creation" of the game and it took "copyright infringement very seriously".
What happens next
"At Tetris we believe in the power of connection and building people together, not dividing them," the firm said in its initial response to the game. "To our fans everywhere: we love you, we see you, and we're grateful to have you in our community. "The Tetris Company has had previous success in suing firms for infringing on its copyright – settling for an undisclosed fee with the makers of the iPhone game Mino in 2012, which it claimed stole the look and feel of the block-builder.
"Flappy Bill", a clone of the 2013 viral hit Flappy Bird sees players fly a bald eagle and dodging monuments from the National Mall. Meanwhile in Rio Run, players must "patrol the line along the river", with gameplay reminiscent of the classic phone game Snake. The games have drawn criticism from politicians, with Connecticut Democratic state senator Matt Lesser tweeting, external: "Heating oil is near an all-time high but hey you can play Border Tsar Tom Homan in a video game".
Meanwhile on 6 March it posted a video which mixed footage of US military strikes in Iran with film and TV clips, as well a clip from Halo's protagonist Master Chief saying "finishing this fight".
