Denmark Stocks Rise as Genmab Shares Surge on Cancer Trial Success

The Danish stock market experienced a notable uplift on Monday, October 26, 2026, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 index climbing 1.16% to reach its highest level in a month. This positive momentum was largely driven by Genmab, the Copenhagen-based biotechnology company, whose shares surged over 12% to a three-year peak. Genmab’s share price rally followed the announcement of encouraging clinical trial results for its cancer drug candidates, sparking investor optimism.
Genmab revealed positive Phase 3 data from its RAINFOL-02 trial for rinatabart sesutecan (Rina-S), an antibody-drug conjugate targeting platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. The study enrolled 584 patients and demonstrated that Rina-S significantly extended progression-free and overall survival compared with standard chemotherapy options. Specifically, the treatment reduced the risk of disease progression or death by approximately 71% and the risk of death alone by 57% in the intent-to-treat population. These results suggest that Rina-S could become a valuable treatment option for a patient group with limited effective therapies.
Additionally, Genmab shared updated Phase 2 data for petosemtamab combined with pembrolizumab in first-line recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The data showed a median overall survival of 28.2 months, a 63% overall response rate, and a median progression-free survival of nine months among the efficacy-evaluable patients. This reinforces Genmab’s expanding pipeline of promising oncology treatments.
The strong clinical updates from Genmab attracted substantial investor attention, making it the top performer on the OMX Copenhagen 20 index on Monday. The index itself is a market-weighted price index comprising the 20 most actively traded shares listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange and serves as a barometer of Denmark’s largest publicly traded companies.
Other notable contributors to the index’s gains included shipping giant A.P. Møller-Mærsk, whose Class B shares rose 4.02% to DKK 23,790 and Class A shares gained 3.87% to DKK 23,060. However, some healthcare-related stocks such as Novozymes, Zealand Pharma, and Coloplast experienced declines, with Novozymes falling 2.64% to DKK 468.80. Overall market breadth was positive, with advancing shares outnumbering decliners 81 to 47 across the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
While the report did not specify a direct cause for Maersk’s share price increase, the company had previously cited stronger container demand and higher spot rates as factors supporting an upgraded 2026 guidance. The reasons behind other sectoral movements remained less clear in the absence of company-specific news on the day.
Looking ahead, Genmab plans to engage with regulatory authorities worldwide to discuss the RAINFOL-02 data and aims to submit applications for approval in the near future. The company is also advancing Rina-S in several other Phase 3 trials for ovarian, endometrial, non-small cell lung, and gastrointestinal cancers, aiming to broaden the drug’s therapeutic potential. This progress is particularly important as Genmab prepares for the eventual patent expiry of its established cancer drug Darzalex, positioning these new candidates as critical growth drivers for the company.
Monday’s trading session highlighted the interplay between biotech innovation and market performance, with Genmab’s clinical successes providing a clear catalyst for investor enthusiasm. The unfolding regulatory and commercial developments surrounding these oncology treatments will be closely watched by market participants and patients alike in the coming months.
