Dolly Parton’s Estate Seeks Restraining Order Against Nephew Over Threats

Dolly Parton, the beloved country music icon, passed away on August 25, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Her death was announced by her nephew, Bryan Seaver, in a prerecorded video as per her wishes. Seaver was also her longtime head of security.
But now, just a month later, Dolly’s estate is in the middle of a legal dispute with him. The estate, managed by a company called She’s Alive LLC and overseen by Dolly’s longtime manager Danny Nozell, filed a lawsuit and asked for a temporary restraining order against Seaver and his security company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services (SAPS).
The court granted this order on September 23, 2026. It stops Seaver and his company from coming near She’s Alive’s properties, employees, and business partners. They must stay at least 1,000 feet away and are barred from interfering with the estate’s business relationships.
The estate claims Seaver sent threatening messages before and after Dolly’s death. These messages allegedly included warnings to damage Dollywood’s business partnerships if he wasn’t paid, references to weapons and his military experience, and threats toward staff and advisers. Seaver is said to have run a heavily armed security operation for Dolly over many years.
Seaver denies these accusations. He says his messages have been taken out of context and calls the restraining order a publicity stunt. Dolly’s sister Freida has also spoken out, saying there is no family feud and that the family loves Bryan.
Dolly had planned carefully for her estate, which includes her music, brand, theme park, and charitable work. She used trusts and business entities to keep things organised and avoid public court battles. Still, this dispute shows how complicated things can get, even with a plan in place.
A court hearing is set for October 7, 2026, to look further into the matter. For now, the restraining order is a temporary step to protect the estate and its people while the legal process unfolds.
