Dolphins’ De’Von Achane Out for Season with Torn ACL

Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane suffered a serious knee injury during their recent game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The injury happened early in the match, and Achane did not return to the field. According to reports from ESPN and the NFL Network, he tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season.
Achane, 24, has been a key player for the Dolphins. He signed a four-year contract extension worth $64 million before this season and was coming off a strong year in 2025, where he rushed for 1,350 yards and scored eight touchdowns. Last season, he also earned a spot in the Pro Bowl, showing he is one of the league’s top running backs.
In the game against the Chiefs, which Miami lost 24-10, Achane managed just three carries for 17 yards before going down with the injury. The Dolphins started the season struggling, now sitting at 0-3 after the loss. Head coach Jeff Hafley said after the game that the injury did not sound optimistic.
With Achane out, the Dolphins will need to rely on other running backs like Ollie Gordon II and possibly Jaylen Wright, though Wright was unavailable for the Chiefs game due to injury. Miami’s offence has faced challenges this season, particularly with their new quarterback, Malik Willis, still finding his footing.
Details about Achane’s surgery and recovery timeline have not been officially confirmed by the Dolphins. Fans will be hoping for a smooth recovery so he can return strong next season.
