In a statement released on Friday, the police said: "An investigation into reports of an assault in Derby city centre has been closed. "Subsequent enquiries were made pursuing the allegations of an assault but, after the alleged victim was identified and spoken to, no further action was taken, police said. Later that week, after Carse had been removed from the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan, Derbyshire Police confirmed it was looking at allegations of assault.
