Apple iOS 27 May Introduce Powerful AI Features for Editing Photos Instantly

Apple’s next software update may quietly redefine how people edit photos on their iPhones. New leaks suggest iOS 27 will lean heavily into AI, bringing smarter, more automated editing tools designed to simplify complex adjustments.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is developing a new set of AI-powered photo features under its Apple Intelligence platform. The move signals a stronger push to compete with rivals already offering advanced AI editing tools.
Three key features are currently in development. The first, known as “Extend,” could allow users to expand images beyond their original frame. Using AI, the iPhone may generate additional content around a photo, letting users stretch backgrounds or add missing elements with simple gestures.
Another feature, “Enhance,” focuses on automatic improvements. Instead of manually adjusting brightness, contrast, or color, AI would handle those changes instantly, delivering a polished result with minimal effort.
The third tool, “Reframe,” is designed to adjust perspective within an image. This could be especially useful for spatial photos captured on devices like Apple Vision Pro, allowing users to shift viewpoints and reveal angles not originally captured.
Apple Intelligence already powers several features, including emoji generation and visual search, along with integration support for tools like ChatGPT. These upcoming additions suggest Apple is expanding that ecosystem into creative workflows like photo editing.
However, there are signs the technology is still a work in progress. Reports indicate the features have struggled with consistency during internal testing, raising questions about whether they will be ready in time for release.
All eyes are now on WWDC 2026, where Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 alongside other major updates. The event should clarify which features are ready for launch and how far Apple plans to push AI across its devices.
If these tools arrive as expected, iOS 27 could make advanced photo editing far more accessible — turning complex edits into simple, AI-driven actions.
